Great way to Lose
Growing up with a lawyer in the family taught me how to argue and win the argument—but not always how to be victorious. I often lost, not because I was wrong, but because of how I argued. Winning isn’t just about being right; it’s about speaking wisely and with grace. Today’s message is inspired by Proverbs 16:20-21: “Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.”

A Detour of Pride
A man set out on a simple trip to visit a relative, but three days later, he found himself hundreds of miles off course. Why? Because he refused to stop and ask for directions! Pride can lead us astray, taking us far from where we intended to be. Today’s message reflects on Proverbs 16:18: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

 Expressway of the Upright
It’s easy to misread this verse and think it’s talking about the “highway of the uptight.” But being upright is not the same as being uptight! To be upright means choosing a path that avoids evil, yet walking that path with a spirit of love and grace. Today’s message is inspired by Proverbs 16:17: “The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; whoever guards his way preserves his life.”

Even Moses didn’t have the strength to continue alone—he needed the support of his friends. Watch today’s video to learn more about this story from Exodus 17:11-13.

Weak but Strong
Every day, I see people whose lives have been turned upside down by the impact of two hurricanes. Many are exhausted, and even those of us volunteering to help feel the weight—including me.
But it’s often in our weakness that we see more clearly how God is at work. When we have no strength left, we learn to rely fully on Him. In my weakness, God gives me strength.

The Father of Compassion
It’s been a difficult time here in Florida—two hurricanes in just a few weeks. Streets are lined with debris, many are displaced, and power outages have affected countless homes. Personally, I can’t dwell on what I lost when I meet people who can no longer live in their homes. Yet, time and again, I see people stepping up to help. Even more inspiring, many have rekindled their faith, finding comfort in the Lord during these challenging times. To learn more, watch today’s video based on 2 Corinthians 1:2-4.

What does it Profit?
The recent hurricanes have shaken us deeply. Many have lost so much—I, too, have experienced loss. Some of what I lost, I didn’t really need, but there were things I did. Yet, like many others, this time has helped me refocus on what truly matters, especially my relationship with our loving and caring Heavenly Father. To explore this further, watch today’s video inspired by Matthew 16:26.

Keep Your Courage
Many years ago, the Apostle Paul found himself in the middle of a fierce, hurricane-like storm while aboard a ship. Everyone on board was terrified as the boat began to take on water. The sailors frantically threw their belongings overboard in desperation, panic gripping them all. But in the chaos, Paul stood firm, knowing his mission wasn’t over. He reassured the crew that they would all survive—if only they stayed calm and trusted in God’s plan.
To dive deeper into this story of faith and resilience, watch today’s video based on Acts 27:21-26.

Our Refuge and Strength
Many of us like to believe we can control everything around us. But just a few weeks ago, we were reminded that the sea is beyond our control. Many homes in our city were flooded with saltwater and silt, leaving them uninhabitable. Yet, in the midst of all this hardship, people have been turning to the Lord for strength and comfort.
To reflect on where true refuge comes from, watch today’s video based on Psalm 46:1-7.

Calm in the Storm
As we brace for the second storm in just two weeks, imagine being caught in the middle of it—chaos all around, and everyone is panicking. But then, you glance toward the back of the boat, and there’s someone peacefully sleeping. You look again, and it’s Jesus! Frustration rises. How could He sleep through this? Doesn’t He know we’re about to perish?
Then, they wake Him. Jesus stands up, stretches, and with calm authority speaks to the wind and the waves, ‘Hush, be still.’ Instantly, the storm is silenced.
To explore this moment of faith and trust, watch today’s devotion based on Luke 8:23-25.
